bounty harvest/oyako donburi

so today once I got my act together I did some major organizing and the bunny came home with boxes of free food from work. I know this list is going to be super boring, but I love getting free stuff and I am dorky and it was like christmas for me. I squealed with delight at each thing I pulled out of the boxes.

*4 dozen organic brown eggs
* spectrum shortening
* organic green beans
* moonstruck chocolate bar
*organic beef stock
* 2 huge bags of ghirideli dark chocolate chips
* sundried tomatoes
* two cans diced chili
* 1 pound stumptown coffee
* espresso powder
* seventh generation toliet tissue
* 2 quarts organic plain yogurt
* powdered sugar
* 5 pounds organic flour
* 4 boxes cereal
* nature path pomergranite pop tarts
* black refried beans
* 4 cans organic tomatoes
* 4 pouches organic sliced turkey
* back to nature cheez its
* Kashi crackers
* edensoy vanilla enriched soymilk
woo-hoo that was so much fun!!!!!!!!!!
we had oyako donburi which was ham and eggs cooked in a broth of dashimoto(stock used in miso soup, udon, etc), mirin, soy sauce, sugar, and green onions and serve over rice. It kind of japanese hot pot dinner. oyako donburi is supposed to be served with chicken thigh (but i have so much ham!) and means parent and child, because it is served with chicken and egg, I think that is so funny!
Parents feed it to their children the night before a major exam at school. It is also somewhat considered to be "peasant food"
i made our bentos for tomorrow and now I am going to take a shower and try to hit the sack. We have an early day tomorrow and we all know how terrible I have been about getting outta bed.

I would lose it if Significant Other brought home that much food! You are a lucky, lucky girl.

That dish sounds amazing.

Ugh. I just re-read your post. I am getting more and more jealous.

Any plans for this big haul? Do you have any more dishes in mind?

Yes, i do consider myself lucky!!! I am glad you liked it. After putting it away, I just stared at everything with a grin on my face.
I am not sure, but some of my plans are:
espresso brownies, cereal bars ( i spend way too much money on luna and clif bars) A lot of it is staples that are just good to have around. If you lived here, I would share!!!!

That's awesome. If you have a good cereal bar recipe, I would love it. I've really been trying to eat more whole grains and fiber, and I spend a fortune on the cereal bars I keep at my desk at work. I'm also looking for a good bran muffin recipe.

I work for a boat dealership. I do the accounting, plus licensing, titling, registration, payroll, anything on paper pretty much! It's a small operation (4 employees), but it's great because I get my hands on a lot of fun things!

that sounds like a cool job! i would love to have a vintage boat (with a love boat vibe) someday! Portland is full of boats, which are fun to watch.
